Pazo Xelmírez

Leaning on the north side of the Cathedral and to the Praza do Obradoiro, stands the Bishop's Palace built by Archbishop Diego Xelmírez to replace the old episcopal residence demolished during the riots. In the eighteenth century added a new floor on the two initial clashing of the original Romanesque building, and forced to reinforce the walls with a new facade as a buttress.

Collegiate Church of Santa Maria del Sar

Built on the banks of the River Sar, the most salient feature of the Collegiate Church of Sar are the flying buttresses of the exterior, built after the rest of the building (XVII and XVIII) to protect it from collapse, because for various reasons, Inside walls are visibly inclined. This feature of the interior, along with the flying buttresses, and confer a peculiar beauty and impressive temple, which was crowned with a dome in the XVIth century.

City of Culture

In a parallel effort, the Xunta de Galicia through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is making partnerships with cultural organizations, social and other public institutions that also ensures the connection of new artistic creations with their dissemination through infrastructure of the City of Culture, building a reference space for imagination, reflection, production and international projection of our culture.

Rajoy Palace

Rajoy Palace (Pazo de Raxoi in Galego) is located in the plaza of Santiago de Compostela Obradoiro, now in the Town Hall of St. James.

The building was the work of an eighteenth century French engineer and construction is due to an order of the Archbishop of Compostela Bartolomeu Raxoi and Losada. Originally the building was destined to be the Municipality of Santiago jail and house the children of the cathedral choir, acolytes and priest.
